INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19

We have implemented numerous changes in our protocols and procedures for the health and safety of our staff and patients in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 related training sessions have been attended by staff and we are continuously educating our employees with the most up to date information. While recognizing the risks associated with COVID-19 or any other infection, we emphasize the importance of diagnosing and treating patients with sleep related disorders for improved physical and mental health. Following guidelines from Durham Public Health, the Ontario Ministry of Health and the College of Physicians and Surgeons, we ensure a safe and professional environment.

Changes in our protocol include:
  • We are operating at a reduced capacity in order to maintain physical distancing.
  • Staff members self evaluate for COVID-19 symptoms at the start of their shift including taking their temperature.
  • All patients who come to the lab are pre-screened for possible COVID-19 symptoms at the time of booking and upon arrival to the laboratory. Patients have their temperature taken.
  • Patient arrival times and departure times have been staggered in order to properly pre-screen everyone and keep physical distancing.
  • Masks must be worn by everyone in the laboratory including staff who also wear additional personal protective equipment (note - patients will not be required to wear masks while sleeping).
  • High touch surfaces are disinfected regularly and often throughout the laboratory.
  • All follow-up appointments and consultations are done virtually.

We want to assure you that your health and safety is of upmost importance to us. Through assessment within a sleep laboratory, the presence of sleep disorders can be identified and treated to ensure restful and restorative sleep and improve quality of life.
